Marisela was born and raised in the US, but when she first held a mic and decided to become a pop star, she knew she would become a Latin diva. With her strong sense of identity, she would then be catapulted to stratospheric heights. But before she became a pop superstar, her climb toward that aspiration was met with a lot of twists and turns. However, she prepared herself for the trials brought forth by pursuing a music career. She began performing when she was a kid. When this felt not enough, she began appearing on Mexican TV shows, which would then open doors for her on American TV.
After dabbling in many areas of the entertainment industry, she finally was prepared to go to a studio and record her music. At 18, Marisela debuted with "Sin el" (Without Him). With that first album, her fate was sealed; she would become a Latin superstar. After releasing more albums, she was already sporting the monikers "The Diva of Romantic Music" and "La Dama de Hierro" (The Iron Lady) and received the flattery of being likened to Madonna. "Sola con mi soledad" (Alone With My Loneliness), "La pareja ideal" (The Ideal Couple"), "Completamente tuya" (Completely Yours), "Tu Dama de Hierro" (Your Iron Lady), "Un amor en el olvido" (A Love In Oblivion), "Amigo Mío, Cariño Mío" (My Friend, My Darling) are among her best records. She topped charts multiple times and dominated the airplay, not just among Hispanic countries but also in the US. She was known for dominating the Billboard charts song after song in one album.
After 40 years of providing Latin music masterpieces, the "La Dama de Hierro" is going to be on tour. She will be gracing 16 American venues. Her first stop is at the Old National Centre on January 26 and will end at the Ovens Auditorium on May 26.
