The band made their incredible breakthrough when their debut single, “Hany Panky,” topped the Billboard Hot 100 in 1966. The single spawned from the debut album with the same name set an unprecedented road to success. Later, the single was followed by two more highly acclaimed singles, “Say I Am (What I Am)” and “Its Only Love.” The following year, the band belted out their three follow-up albums, including the highly successful I Think We’re Alone Now. The effort released several incredible singles, including the title track, “Mirage,” and “I Like the Way.” Over the next several years, Tommy James and the Shondells enjoyed an immense amount of success - having released the rock and roll anthems “Crimson and Clover” and “Sweet Cherry Wine.”
