Since 1957, Paul Anka has been entertaining fans across the world with his exemplary voice. That year, he released his first breakout single, “Diana,” which he wrote for a girl he met in church. The song went straight to number 1 in North America and became one of the best-selling singles performed by a Canadian singer. Besides the U.S. and Canada, the song also entered the charts in four other countries. After his phenomenal breakthrough, Anak dropped several more hits, such as “I Love You, Baby,” “You Are My Destiny,” “Crazy Love,” and more. In 1959, he dropped his first number 1 hit, “Lonely Boy.” The song, recorded with the accompaniment of Don Costa’s orchestra, was featured in the film Girls Town. Upon reaching number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the song stayed at the top for four weeks.

This was followed by another successful hit song, “Put Your Head on My Shoulder,” which reached number 2 on the chart. The song received worldwide acclaim and has been covered by several artists across the globe, including Puerto Rican Robby Rosa, Brazilian duo Gabriela a Tatiana, and Spanish singer-songwriter Enrique Guzman.

During the 60s, Paul Anka dominated the charts with incredible pop and ballad staples. During this time, he wrote and recorded an English version of Frank Sinatra’s “Comme d’habitude.” The song, titled “My Way,” became one of the biggest songs of the century. During the 70s, rock and roll superstar Elvis Presley began covering the song during his live performances.

Some of his more iconic hits released in the era include “Puppy Love,” “My Home Town,” “Tonight My Love, Tonight,” “Kissing on the Phone,” and more. Moreover, Anka ended the decade with the remarkable hit “Goodnight, My Love.”

Over the years, Anka has proven his longevity in music and continued to belt out timeless tracks across several decades. In 1974, he dropped another number 1 song, “(You’re) Having My Baby.” Featured in his self-titled studio album, the single topped the Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian chart.
